Personal Brain rules. Check
it out. It takes a little while to get used to. First, you need to understand what
it does. When I first got it, it wasn't terribly apparent from the docs.
Basically, it makes outlines. You can add points ("thoughts," as the program calls
them) to the outline and then add notes, links and files to the thoughts in the
outline. Outlines are very handy for writing or making web sites and any number
of other things. Sadly, I don't see them enough in my line of work.
But the really cool part about
Personal
Brain is that these outlines are not necessarily linear. You can connect
the thoughts in the outline in a variety of directions. Not just above and below
as you're limited to on paper. This allows you to connect all relevant thoughts
to all others. This is a GREAT way to layout web sites with lots of pages and sub
pages and to visualize where you are in the site map at all times.
I map out sites as I make them and then keep notes about certain pages right where
those pages are in the outline. Great for having to go back and fix things later.
I also keep personal info in different brains. Sometimes I make link brains. I don't
bother trying to keep my files in it though, that's kinda crazy. I like the way
I have my files sorted just fine. But for information, notes, links and site mapping
Personal Brain is awesome.
I couldn't live without it.
